DAPR~8 Program – Digitally Empowered Learning

Year 8 students at Holy Spirit College have a ‘digital assistant’ from Term 2 2015. Students will be able to access digital learning technologies at school and at home. No longer limited to computer labs, these light weight devices will allow students to benefit from learning, enhanced by digital resources, integrated across the curriculum, while still developing traditional skills through quality classroom teaching.

Year 8 students at Holy Spirit College follow a common course of study. All students study a core of subjects for the whole year. In addition, 12 term length units from The Arts and Technology Learning areas are studied on a rotational basis, three per term.

Rotational Units

A range of Arts and Technology subjects are undertaken by students in term blocks on a rotational basis. The purpose of this system is to broaden student’s learning opportunities and gain a basic realistic understanding of each subject area. This system helps students to identify the interests and strengths that they will further develop in Year 9 and make those choices without relying on preconceptions of what the subject entails.
